On the 5th and 6th of April 2025, 52 clowns took over Bristol University’s drama department to explore The Future Of Clowning In Turbulent Times.

Ah, the Easter holidays of 2022, back in the days when it was still cold enough to wear a coat, a gang of fools gathered in a school in central Bristol to explore Site Responsive Fooling.

It was such a beautiful week, that I wanted to share a taste of our time together. Below are pictures from the last day, when the fools all chose a performance site in or around the school.

On Sunday 8th November 2020, we held an online Open Space session on Zoom, exploring the theme of our conference, 'Clowns In Crisis.' All weekend, through performances, workshops and a panel discussion, we'd been exploring what clowning can do for us and what clowns can do for the world. 

The Open Space was a chance for an international group of clowns and clown enthusiasts to come together and discuss what was relevant to them personally and professionally. This blog captures a little of what happened, including notes and pics from participants.

We did it! Live art is still possible! Our documentary photographer, Joe Rosser captured the evening to give you a taste of how it felt to be in the Wardrobe Theatre during our first ever hybrid online / real life show, The New "Normal".
