I will be presenting a session at The Dramatherapy Southwest conference in Exeter on Sunday 22nd March.

The conference is open to dramatherapists and other therapists / practitioners who use creative and embodied therapeutic approaches. More info and ticket link below.

About the conference

This year's Dramatherapy Southwest Conference explores the practice of love in dramatherapy:

How is LOVE present in our practice as dramatherapists? How is LOVE experienced by therapist and client within the therapeutic relationship, and how do clients bring their experience of LOVE into the work? Does LOVE need boundaries, and what edges do we meet in ourselves and each other as we explore this theme? What part does LOVE play in how you hold yourself and your practice? This theme arises in response to the times we are living in. We are inviting in LOVE as life-giving, connecting, awakening energy, calling in heart wisdom, the erotic, critical discourse, passion and courage.

Workshop: What gets in the way of love?

Facilitator: Holly Stoppit

An experiential workshop bringing together the Buddhist practice of Metta Bhavna (a meditation practice which helps to cultivate a quality of loving kindness) and embodied/creative approaches to Internal Family Systems (IFS). We will experiment with cultivating love through practice, and noticing what supports and what gets in the way of the flow of love, and which parts are involved. Participants will experience tools and techniques to inspire their personal and professional practice.

TED Talk: Love in motion: How dramatherapy reunites mind, body and spirit

Presenter: Katie MacDonald

A talk inspired by Katie’s MA research/dissertation on relationship between dramatherapy and sense of spiritual connection.

Workshop: Love Ritual

Facilitator: Harriet Garbas

Using creative mediums (sensory play, embodiment and ritual) we will explore how creative interventions can allow development of self care, build self trust and even a sense of self love for our clients. An embodied and practical session using meditation, movement, journaling and ritual in a liminal space.
