Zoom Clown 2
Building Blocks to Clown Devising
This intermediate 5-week course from The Online Clown Academy builds on the Zoom Clown 1 - Clown Play course. Over 4 weekly 2.5 hour sessions we'll introduce you to the building blocks of clown devising. In the 5th week you'll be led through a reflection process to help you articulate your learning and explore how you might want to apply it to future projects.
This course takes place on Zoom in March / April 2021.
“Excellent fun, that will stretch you as a performer & individual. Your imagination & creativity will be set free!” Previous participant
[Please note: there is no public performance element to this course*]
You will be led on a whistle-stop tour of clown devising, learning how to craft ensemble and solo skits using objects, emotions and status play.
After the usual grounding, check in and warm up, you will be given tasks to take into breakout rooms. You’ll discover clown material through a process of improvised play.
This will be followed by structured feedback from your peers and from Robyn and Holly. We will be exploring the power of positive feedback during the course and equipping you with the skills to support each other in this way.
In the final week you'll be led through a reflection process to help you articulate your learning and ponder on how you might want to apply it to future performances or simply living a more playful life.
“A gentle and supportive exploration of the everyday and the absurd, where nothing is wrong and all is well.” Previous participant
“Play with other crazy adults. Laugh and discover in a playful way together the ingredients for clown devising.” Previous participant.
* The last two times we ran this course we worked towards a performance for an invited audience. Listening to feedback from previous participants and our own considered experience, we have decided to run it without that element this time, to give space to explore a wider variety of devising approaches and to take the pressure down. Let's see how it works!
Who runs this course?
Zoom Clown 2 – Building Blocks to Clown Devising is brought to you by The Online Clown Academy (previously known as Clown Workouts), which is headed up by professional idiots Robyn Hambrook and Holly Stoppit.
