Comic Storytelling 5-day Course
5 whole days, exploring comic storytelling! We'll be wending our way through non-verbal storytelling, improvised fictional storytelling and autobiographical storytelling / stand up.
Comic Storytelling ingredients:
After warming up the state of clown, we'll let the red nose clowns loose on stories and find out what they do with themes, narrative and characters.
We'll explore easy ways into verbal improvisation and get friendly with story structure, so that we can create instant stories out of nothing.
Autobiographical Storytelling / Stand Up
We'll explore the mechanics of verbal / stand up comedy and through telling our own stories, we'll find magic in the mundane and hilarity in humanity.
-You will come out of the week with comic storytelling tools that will enable you to both improvise and devise funny stories for the stage and beyond.
-The whole week will be infused with exercises to keep investigating and improving your audience connection, helping you to step into your authenticity and respond wisely to whatever the audience (and life) throws your way!
-On the final day, you'll get a chance to present a story to the group for feedback. This could be the beginning of your new clown, storytelling or stand up act!

"Nurturing, encouraging, useful, clear, inspiring."

Will the summer schools be affected by coronavirus?
As ever, we are choosing to be optimistic! There will be an end to this and we’re hoping that by the summer the virus will have passed through and life will have settled - if that’s the case we’ll all need to top up on play and laughter and connection.
So we are continuing to accept applications for all summer schools - let’s think of them as ‘expressions of interest’, on the understanding that if things change for you or for us, we’ll let each other know.
Of course, whilst remaining positive we need to be clear that things are in a state of flux right now and it is possible that these courses may be cancelled. We will let you know as soon as we can if this happens
